Silvia is a LEED AP architecture and permaculture designer based in New York. She is experienced in high end residential, hospitality and sustainable design, with academic foundation in traditional and classical architecture, and civil engineering.
As a permaculture designer she develops urban edible gardens on rooftops, terraces and yards, and food forests on agricultural and monoculture farm land.
Born and raised in Italy, Silvia received her Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Ferrara. After achieving a Master's Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Notre Dame, IN, she has worked for Hart Howerton Architects in NY for 5 years developing a wide range of projects, mainly hospitality and high end residential ones. Her experience there involved:
- Interior architecture, millwork design, and construction administration of a 7,ooo sf residence in Water Mill, NY.
- Design development of a 49 key ski resort in Montana, with a restaurant, bars, SPA and fitness center.
- Management of the design of the master plan for a 32 acre resort in Bermuda, and development of architectural schematic design for a 150 key eco friendly hotel and 50 villas. Coordination of internal team of architects and planners and external team of engineers, associate architects, sustainability, marketing, and financial consultants, model makers. Management of billing and budget. Production of presentation and marketing material.
For the following two years she collaborated with New World Home on numerous high end modular LEED residential projects, merging historic inspiration and sustainable design. In particular she has been developing the design for an affordable community in Georgia and collaborated on the interiors for the Country Living House of the Year 2010.
She recently has been designing a Bio-Resort and SPA in Costa Rica in collaboration with Fernando Santangelo in NYC.
Silvia is now focusing her practice on sustainable design, including residential renovations, design and development of urban and countryside farms and hospitality structures following the principles of Permaculture.
In addition to her passion for architecture, Silvia is an enthusiast Yoga teacher and practitioner.
